Our Mission Statement

The Word Church of Philadelphia,

Mission Statement: Is to teach the inerrant Word of God in a simplistic way,  so that understandings take root and people’s hearts are changed. We declare the “The Word of God” works for any situation that they may encounter.

We plan to aid them Spiritually, Emotionally, Physically, and Mentally. Our primary goal is to let them know that

“THE WORD WORKS!”

Our Vision

Our vision is to reach People with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. To produce a growing environment, to minister to them in a holistic way by first reconciling them back to God by sharing the love and power of God in a real and tangible way. To teach and train them with practical application to function in the kingdom way of life that God has intended. We will produce effective leaders that will be effective wherever God may place them and be able to reproduce their style.

We develop healthy and wholesome families to demonstrate and prove God's good and acceptable and perfect will. That they may help where help is needed and do for others what was done for them. We will produce imitators of God that will share with others a real encounter with the presence of God.

We will unite with other ministries that have Godly visions so that God's’ will may be done by sharing necessary resources to accomplish our goals. We will occupy until he comes.

CHURCH HISTORY

In response to God’s calling, Pastor Tate accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1987. After joining Truth Memorial Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Reverend Claude Mason, he continued growing in his faith, learning, studying, and teaching the word of truth to others. He was eventually appointed as a deacon and was steward in the church for six years. As Pastor Tate continued to grow, he studied at the Jamison Bible Institute. Under the leadership of Pastor William F. Smith, Sr., he was ordained as the Youth Pastor at Truth Memorial, where he served in this position for some years before becoming the Assistant Pastor. Together with his lovely wife, Lois, they invested their compassion and love of the Lord into the church, their community, and a special ministry to married couples. It was apparent to Pastor Tate that in God’s transformation of his own life, he was preparing him and his wife Lois, to be used mightily to help transform the lives of many others.

The Tate’s understood the importance of God’s process and God’s timing with regard to further ministry. As they fasted and prayed, they prepared themselves, understanding that the foundations of further ministry should be based upon solid foundational teaching and practical application of the Word of God. With the support of Truth Memorial Baptist Church, in August 2012, Pastor and Evangelist Tate birthed The Word Church of Philadelphia as a weekly bible study based in their home. They saw the Word of God at work in the lives of those who attended. Families were being restored, deliverance was taking place in the lives of those that were bound, and God was renewing the minds of His people. As the weekly bible study grew, their home could no longer accommodate the numbers of people who wanted to attend, so the bible study group made transition to its current location at Harambee Charter School in 2013. As they waited for the release to go forth, they continued to serve at Truth Memorial, until January 2014, The Word Church of Philadelphia officially opened its doors.
