The Ministers of

The Word Church of Philadelphia

Reverend Kevin Chapman

Has over 20 years of ministry experience serving the needs of his church and community. For over (7) years, he served as Director of the Shepherd House Ministry in North Philadelphia. After experiencing his own deliverance and transformation, Rev. Chapman developed a passion for helping to transform the lives of other men through Discipleship Training at this Teen Challenge Affiliated Residential Center. As a former member of Sharon Baptist Church under Bishop Dr. Keith W. Reed, Sr., Rev. Chapman grew and developed a passion for preaching and teaching the Word of God. In 2002, he was formerly licensed as an Associate Minister at Truth Memorial Baptist Church. There he served for over (12) years in various ministries under Pastor William Smith, Sr., this included being Director of New Members Ministry and an Outreach Ministry leader, and fulfilling other leadership roles.

One of the highlights of Rev. Chapman's ministry efforts has been his leadership and work with Skilton House Ministry's, Operation Brotherhood. Rev. Chapman has partnered with a host of churches throughout the city of Philadelphia for over 20 years, helping to provide Thanksgiving Turkey Baskets to 1,500 to 1,700 families yearly. You can often find him leading worship during Packing Night or engaging the youth to get involved in the process. He has also used the support of Germantown Church of the Brethren to meet the needs of many seniors, and low-income families in and around the surrounding community.

His commitment to spiritual growth and training have included the following accomplishments; Biblical Counseling Training at Christian Research and Development, becoming a Certified R.ES.T. (Responsive, Emotive, Spiritual, Therapy) Counselor and Trainer under Dr. Rick McKinney, PhD, Certified as an Associate Addictions Counselor, Level II. Rev. Chapman has served as a consultant with the University of Pennsylvania Health System, Pastoral Care Division, and he has attended the Jameson School of Ministry and Theology under the late Rev. Dr. Howard O. Jameson, PhD.

In 2014, Rev. Chapman and his family made transition with Pastor Jeffrey and Evangelist Lois Tate in the birthing of The Word Church of Philadelphia. Rev. Chapman offers leadership to the Men's Ministry Fellowship called the B.A.R.R. - Building Accountability through Real Relationships aimed at strengthening men in their relationships with God and one another.

Reverend Chapman is married to his lovely wife of over 18 years, and along with their four children Brittany, Danielle, Vashon, and Keenan (his twin), he is committed to instilling core values in the lives of those around him. Rev. Chapman continues to make an impact in his community, and wherever his travels may take him on his job. He often introduces himself to others simply as "Brother Kevin" or "Brother Chapman", and is always approachable. It is this approachability that often opens the door for him to share his personal testimony with others of God's deliverance, where He has brought him from, and what God can do in their lives, if they too are willing to trust in Him.

Known to many for his genuine zeal and exhortation of the saints, as well as his passion for the lost, and those who have strayed. His life verse is Galatians 5:1 - "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage."
