Pastor Jeffrey T. Tate 

Pastor Tate is the husband to Evangelist Lois Tate. He is also the father of five children and the grandparent of nine

Pastor Jeffery Tate committed his life to the Lord in 1991, and experienced a drastic transformation through the word of God.  Sparked with the desire and gifted to share God’s word, he attended Jamerson School of Ministry in 1996.  Under the leadership of William F. Smith, Sr., and the late Pastor Mason, of Truth Memorial Baptist Church, Pastor Tate became a licensed minister in 1997. In 2003 he became Youth Pastor and in 2007 he was ordained as Assistant Pastor.

His passion for biblical wisdom and his realistic approach to teaching God’s word further provoked him to complete a training program with a faith based program called R.E.S.T. in Philadelphia, PA where he gained certification in Drug Selected Anatomy & Physiology, Basic Rational Emotive Spiritual Therapy, Stress Therapy, Counseling Methods and Techniques, and Spiritual Counseling.   

Pastor Tate’s heart is devoted to teaching and preaching the gospel, mentoring, disciplining and counselling with compassion.   He desires to see people grow into spiritual maturity, using all the gifting that God has placed within them, ensuring that they understand the deposit and demand that God has placed in and on their lives. He has an authentic passion for people to hear God’s truth.  While speaking truth, Pastor Tate continues to show his daily dependence and hope found in his Savior Jesus Christ.  

While a member of Truth Memorial Baptist, Pastor Tate faithfully served in various positions from Deacon, Trustee, Youth Pastor, Discipleship Teacher, Director of Marriage Enrichment Ministry and Assistant Pastor.  As an Assistant Pastor, Pastor Tate aided Pastor William F. Smith, Sr. with administrative leadership and helped implement the vision of the church.

Servant leader depicts not only Pastor Tate’s spiritual journey, but his life’s work.  Pastor Tate served his country as a Marine in the Marine Corps and his community, as a counselor in the Philadelphia Prison System.  

With a burning zeal for married couples, Pastor Tate along with his wife Evangelist Lois Tate has opened the doors of their home to minister to married couples.  Through mentoring and counseling, they have imparted the riches of God’s word to the hearts of those they counseled. Which has lead numerous couples to return to Oneness and make God’s Word relevant and applicable to their everyday lives.  

While being led by the Holy Spirit, Pastor Tate and his wife Evangelist Lois Tate sought and were granted release from Truth Memorial Baptist Church.  In January of 2014, Pastor William F. Smith, Sr. of Truth Memorial Baptist Church officially installed Pastor Jeffrey Tate as Founder and Pastor of The Word Church of Philadelphia.  

Pastor loves the word of God.  He truly believes that the power of God resides in His Word, and if he can get the good news of Jesus into the hearts of the people, lives will be changed.

His favorite scripture is Psalms 107:20 “he sent his word and healed them and delivered them from their destructions.”

He and his family reside in Philadelphia, PA.  He is indeed an anointed vessel called of God to win souls for Christ and edify the church for such a time as this. 

First Lady Lois Tate

Evangelist Lois Tate is a woman called by God.  She is the wife of Pastor Jeffrey Tate and First Lady of The Word Church of Philadelphia. She is also the mother of five children and grandmother of nine.

In 1996, at Truth Memorial Baptist Church, Evangelist Tate received her licensed to preach the gospel.  In 2001, Evangelist Tate graduated from Deliverance Evangelistic Bible Institute with
honors.

She has since been traveling on a rewarding journey of compassion and great love for others.  Her humility, warmth and genuine love for God and people keep her authentic and approachable, causing people to immediately connect with her.  

While under the leadership of Pastor William F. Smith, of Truth Memorial Baptist Church, Evangelist Tate diligently served many years in various ministries from Youth and Young Adult Overseer, Director of Marriage Enrichment, Deaconess, Choir Director, Van Driver, Youth Bible Study Teacher, Sunday school Teacher, and a Trustee.  As the Overseer of the Hospitality Ministry, she made sure the Greeters and Ushers shared God’s Love with everyone who entered the doors of Truth Memorial Baptist Church.

Her life is dedicated to living by example and encouraging everyone to live up to their full potential.

Evangelist Tate has a great passion for married couples. Evangelist Tate along with her husband has minister to married couples for over 20 years.  Through mentoring and counseling, they have imparted the riches of God’s word to the hearts of those they counseled. She is also a strong supporter of family and family values.

Evangelist Tate loves the Lord and the word of God.  She truly believes that Jesus is LOVE and we must show His love in the time we are living in.  

Her favorite verses is 1 Corinthian 13:13, “and now abide Faith Hope Love these three; but the greatest of these is LOVE”.
